Suspension polymerisation (EPS)

Suspension polymerisation of styrene monomer leads to one of the most important polymers – polystyrene. In its gas-impregnated form, expandable polystyrene (EPS), is widely used as insulation material in the construction industry and as packaging material. In the polymerisation process Sinocell acts as protective colloid, adjusting the particle size distribution of the resulting polymer particles, prohibiting coalescence. The diameter of the resulting polymer particles is about 10 to 1000 μm.
